Eyewear Craftsman

Overview:

The McGee Group of companies is searching for an Eyewear Craftsman. The main function of the position is being responsible for the assembly part of the manufacturing process. (i.e. initial assemble, screws, adjustments, polishing etc.)

Responsibilities:

• Able to spot imperfections/branding/color variations & perform necessary printer maintenance to rectify
• Cross train in other areas and processes as well
• Insert lens in frames, utilizing appropriate methods and tools for frame types
• Check Lens for defects, correct power axis, prism, etc.
• Edge lenses both manually and with robotics
• Drilling and beveling
• Grinding and mounting lenses in frames
• Ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements
• Keep a watchful eye for quality control issues as they arise

Position Requirements:

• Good with hands and dexterity
• Optical lab or Optician experience needed
• Familiarity with a manufacturing environment, including use of machines, power tools and precision measuring instruments
• Ability to learn new processes and procedures
• Capacity to learn new skills quickly
• Physically capable pf performing workshop duties including lifting and moving
• Organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong inter-personal skills (friendly, caring, patient)
• Superior communication skills in both written and oral format are needed
• You like to do perfect work! High attention to detail.
